Summary

Sometimes slower is better - especially when it comes to the rate of protein digestion. While rapid protein absorption is desirable immediately before or after exercise, delayed release is probably more beneficial throughout the remainder of the day.

Casein proteins are pH sensitive and gel in the acidic environment of the stomach. As a result, it can take more than twice as long for caseins to be broken-down into their amino acid subcomponents than whey and other proteins. Because of their unique time-released qualities, caseins are aptly described as anti-catabolic or muscle-protecting proteins.

I love the effect. The reason I bought this is because I seriously needed it. My body's metabolism is going seriously high lately due to my workouts (especially when I was doing DTP) and it causes me to wake up in the middle of the night looking for food.

We all know that we need uninterrupted sleep to get the best gains. So casein was the solution. As a Team MuscleTech athlete, I am really regretful to say that I have no choice to resort to another brand but I haven't have any other choices. ON has always have a great reputation, thus resulting in me trying it.

The effect was incredible. I have been having better gains and from the very FIRST day I had it, I no longer wake up in the middle of the night to look for food anymore. I still feel very hungry when I wake up in the morning though.

HOWEVER, the texture of the drink is absolutely atrocious! The taste is OK but the texture is WRONG! It doesn't matter what you mix it with, water or milk, it's no good. The only way to make it less hard to swallow is by pounding A WHOLE LOT of liquid to mix the powder. And that always result to me drinking a lotta liquid and my stomach just go absolutely bloated...=_="...

I got this because I tried a free sample, which mixed well and tasted better than most milkshakes I've had.

But this product I purchased not only doesn't mix very well, but has some weird chemically/fishy taste!

Jus got my tub today chaged from avid usn fan boy but i cant ignore ON. Tastes fine bit grainy compared to whey but still not even an issue.

The vanilla flavour is really nice. If you mix it with milk it tastes like Carte d'Or ice cream. Great just before bed.

Completey unscientific thing as well, all my family recently got a nasty stomach bug, with the runs and gurgling bellies. I started getting the gurgles a few nights ago, so I whacked back a load of casein, and it seemed to stopped it dead. I guess the sludge was too much for all the nasties to deal with!

I Love this stuff, 'cause it's casein it mixes thicker than whey which results in it being like a thick tasty shake and they do it in my favourite flavour cookies and creme too(!). I usually take this before going to bed so I have a 'slow drip' source of protein to nourish my body whilst i'm sleeping.

FAQs

Q.

Do you know if this comes with a scoop or not?

thanks
Liam

A.

Yeah this comes with a scoop so you can get the exact measurement as to what is a serving.

Q.

why does thecCasein whey taste "griity" and the normal Op Nu whey is smooth and delicious?

A.

Casein isn't whey. These are the two main proteins found in milk. Whey is very soluble in liquid, whereas casein can have a very slight grittyness because the particles expand slightly when exposed to water. If whey and casein are mixed 50:50, then the gritiness is not very noticeable (although most people don't notice it even when casein is mixe on its own).
